Noisette Bakehouse was founded by Sarah Lemanski in 2013 and is now run with the irreplaceable help of her sister Hannah. Together in their curious micro bakery they are intent on hand crafting the most intriguing baked goods around which they sell at pop up events or from the Madeleine Express, a 1978 Citroen HY van, beautifully reborn as a bakery on wheels with a nod to its French roots and petite cake namesake.

The inspired creations produced by the bakehouse are a culmination of Sarah’s varied interests, garnered from books, nature, travel and art. A love of international baking, from Japan to Eastern Europe and a penchant for unusual ingredients from Miso to Kefir, combine with strong Yorkshire roots and sensibilities to create original recipes that have customers queueing wherever they pop up next.

The selection of baked goods both sweet and savoury convey a unique style of modern baking that produces flavour forward and well considered cakes, pies, tarts and patisserie. Famed for their infamous Salt Caramel Brownie, along with trademark creation the Morning Cake™ and the endless array of gluten free, dairy free and vegan treats unlike any kind you’ve seen before.

In 2014 Sarah was awarded Young British Foodie (YBF’s) Baker of the Year, a well regarded award judged by experts in the field of food and drink. This is testament to their passion and creativity for baking which drives their meticulous practice and translates in to original products of the highest quality.

FAQ's

Do you deliver? If so where?

We can deliver any bespoke cake request from our bakehouse right to the door of your home, event location or venue. Delivery rates are based on travelling distance and we ask that you contact us directly or let us know via the online order form of delivery details.

When and where can I collect my order?

If you have ordered one of our items through the online shop then you can collect in person from the Bakehouse. Collection can be made on the following days at the following times –

Tuesday 9am-2pm

Friday 9am-2pm

If you have requested to collect a bespoke or custom order then a suitable time will be arranged for collection.

When will my order be delivered?

Orders placed through the online shop are shipped by mail on Wednesdays and Fridays. Therefore orders placed on and between Thursday and Sunday will be dispatched in the Wednesday mail out. Orders placed on and between Monday and Wednesday will be dispatched on the Friday mail out.

We will send confirmation via email of the date on which your order will be dispatched and an estimated date for delivery. Please be aware that we can not guarantee the delivery date so if you require something for a certain date please get in touch in advance and we will endeavour to accommodate this.

If you have placed a bespoke or custom order for a celebration cake then delivery will be made on an agreed date and time upon confirmation of your order.

I would like to request a bespoke cake, how do I get in touch?

If you have a special request please select the ‘Bespoke’ in the menu bar at the top of the page and complete the order form. We will then be in touch to confirm your request. Alternatively you can email your ideas and requests to – hello@noisettebakehouse.com

How far in advance do I need to request a bespoke cake?

The sooner the better!

We ask that you make your request as soon as possible in order for us to ensure availability and to allow enough time to accommodate any special requests for ingredients or decorations. Orders are taken on a first come, first served basis. At certain times of year we experience increased demand so please get in touch asap to avoid disappointment. We ask that orders are made at least two weeks prior to required delivery or collection date.

We do however appreciate that the need for cake can occur at any time and no celebration is complete without one. If you find yourself in need of cake at short notice then don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will do out very best to accommodate your request.

I need an order at short notice, is there anyway I can get the sweet stuff?

If you require something at short notice then please contact us via email on – hello@noisettebakehouse.com and we will do our best to provide you with what you require. This may be subject to additional delivery charges.

Are your cakes suitable for vegetarians?

All of our cakes are suitable for vegetarians. Full disclosure will be made in the event that any of our cakes or bakes contains ingredients that are not suitable for vegetarians.

Do your cakes and bakes contain nuts?

Many of our cakes do contain nuts and even those that do not are still made in an environment that handles tree nuts, peanuts and associated tree nut and peanut products. Despite our best efforts it is not possible to guarantee that all products are free from cross contamination and therefore there is a risk that they may contain traces of nuts.

We ask that all customers carefully read the ingredients listed within our products before placing an order and that any customer requesting a bespoke order informs us of any allergies or intolerances. We do not recommend our cakes as suitable for anyone with a severe nut or peanut allergy.

Do you create gluten free cakes and bakes?

We utilise a range of ingredients including many that naturally do not contain gluten. Upon request we do produce cakes baked with gluten free flours, such as almond, buckwheat, rice flour, sorghum and certified gluten free oats.

However the bakery handles large amounts of wheat flours and other gluten containing products, we cannot therefore guarantee that any item produced in the bakery is truly ‘Gluten Free’. We do not recommend those that suffer from a severe gluten allergy consume our products.

What options do you offer as decoration for bespoke cakes?

We favour the use of all natural, edible decorations for all of our bespoke cakes. These are always designed to be in keeping with or complimentary to the flavour combination(s) of each cake.

We use edible flowers grown organically by Greens of Devon, supplemented with homegrown edible flowers when the season and growing conditions allow.

In instances when edible flowers are not suitable or if they are out of season we use hand piped chocolate shards and shapes, cacao nibs, coconut chips, nuts, seeds, fresh fruit and berries and dehydrated fruit and vegetables.

Please let us know if you have any preferences with regards to decoration when completing the order form which can be found on the ‘Bespoke’ page of the website.

I have chosen to collect my order from the Bakehouse. How will I know when it will be ready for collection?

We will provide confirmation via email of the exact date and time that your order will be ready for collection.

As a general rule orders placed on and between Thursday and Sunday will be ready for collection between 9am and 2 pm on the following Tuesday. If you place an order between Monday and Wednesday it will be ready for collection between 9am and 2pm on the following Friday.

Can I cancel my order?

If you have a change of heart then please let us know as soon as possible by emailing us at – hello@noisettebakehouse.com. Due to the nature of our production, every item is made to order, therefore if your order has already been baked we will be unable to offer a refund.

How do I make payment and do you require me to pay a deposit?

For orders placed through the online shop you will be directed to pay via Paypal or direct bank transfer.

Bespoke orders are payable by direct bank transfer. Details will be provided to you upon confirmation of your order. A 50% deposit is requested upon confirmation with the remainder of the balance due 5 days prior to the arranged collection or delivery date.

How should I transport and store my cake?

If you are collecting your cake or transporting the cake to a venue after delivery then we recommend that you place the boxed cake somewhere flat and stable, such as the boot or footwell of a car. Cakes placed on a car seat are prone to slide during transportation. If possible pack the cake box in so it can not shift during transportation.

We advise that all cakes with fresh edible flowers be stored in a fridge and removed to come to up to temperature before serving. Please keep in mind that edible flowers will wilt if left out for too long, especially in warmer temperatures. We recommend that the cake box is carefully wrapped with clingfilm to seal it before storing in the fridge to prevent any odours tainting the cake.

If your cake does not have edible flower decoration it can be stored at cool room temperature, ensuring it is away from any radiators or direct sunlight.

We accept payment via Paypal and Direct Bank Transfer only. No bank details will be recorded or stored by us and personal information such as email and delivery addresses will only be used to process your order and will not under any circumstances be shared with any third parties.
